| Tambria Peeples is a seasoned public relations professional and journalist. Born and raised in Atlanta, Ga., she received a degree in English/journalism from Georgia State University. “I’ve known since a teenager that I wanted to work in the communications field but I just wasn’t sure what aspect interested me most. I was exposed to Monica Kaufman, who is a news anchor on channel 2, I listened to “Mike Roberts in the Morning” on V-103 and read Sonia Murray’s column in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. I was taken by it all. So after completing my undergraduate degree and several interns with radio, television, print and PR agencies, I finally settled into my niche as a publicist and journalist,” she says. Tambria started working with the Spizman Agency, a well-known boutique firm in Atlanta, where she was armed with experience and the tools needed to become a results-oriented publicist. She continued to hone those skills with Partners Health Care's marketing department in Cranford, New Jersey. She later started her own PR firm, Exodus Communications by Tambria Peeples, where she offers media and community relations, branding, event planing, cross-community promotions, press kit development and several other components necessary for a successful PR campaign. Now after more than 10 years in this business, she was nominated for the 2007 Black Publicist of the Year Award by the Historical Black Press Foundation. Her clients have included entertainers, nonprofit organizations, online retailers, authors and public speakers. More specifically, the Stop the Violence Movement, Clevermoms.com, The Bethlehem Center and others have had the benefit of her expertise. Tambria is also a published freelance writer and columnist. She writes hard news and features about government, fitness, health, profiles and attractions (restaurants, events) along with celebrity and entertainment news. Her portfolio includes interviews with the Kings of Comedy, Platinum-selling, Grammy nominated, gospel group, Trin-i-tee 5:7, KRS One, Q Parker of R&B group 112 and many other notable entertainers. She currently publishes PR Trends, a public relations advice and lifestyle newsletter. When off the clock, Tambria enjoys spending time with her family and serves on nonprofit boards that advocate literacy and improving housing issues in impoverished areas. |
